How does it work?

Aquaponics utilises the methodology of hydroponics (growing plants without soil) and aquaculture (raising fish and sea life). It combines these two methods in a symbiotic fashion, feeding the fish waste and discharge to the plants, while the plants provide fresh, clean water for the fish. You can already see how such a method would reduce waste, resources and precious land.
